Splinter Cell: Blacklist is the sixth installment in the Splinter Cell video game series. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal. It was announced at E3 2012 and set for release in August 2013.

Blacklist is a continuation of the Splinter Cell: Conviction story. Ubisoft confirmed the game will feature a detailed single player story campaign, a co-op mode that will be directly related to the single player campaign, and the return of the fan favorite Spies vs. Mercs multiplayer mode, last used in Splinter Cell: Double Agent .

Taking place 6 months after the end of Splinter Cell: Conviction, Sam Fisher is retired. The United States has a military presence in two thirds of the countries in the world. A group of 12 countries have had enough and demand the removal of all U.S. military presence in foreign countries with a terror ultimatum, called the Blacklist - an escalating list of public and top secret U.S. interests, that will be targeted and destroyed.

The President of the United States, fearing the existence of organizations like Third Echelon has created the current situation, disbands Third Echelon publicly.
